Privacy Policy
Last updated 17 July 2026
This policy applies to all PuzzleMonster apps: Fillomino, Hashi, LightUp, Masyu, Nonograms, NumRush, Nurikabe, Slitherlink, StarBattle, Suko, and Towers (the “apps”). It's short because we collect very little.
PuzzleMonster is operated by Nilsen Lab (“we,” “us”), which is the data controller for the limited information described here. You can reach us any time at lukas@nilsenlab.com.
The short version
No accounts. No ads. No personal information. We collect only anonymous, aggregated usage statistics to understand how the apps are used and to fix problems.
What we collect
The apps use PostHog for anonymous product analytics. We collect:
- Which game you are using
- Your iOS version and the app version
- A random, anonymous identifier generated on your device
- Basic usage events, such as starting or completing a puzzle
This data is not tied to your name, email, or any real-world identity, and we do not try to identify you from it.
What we do not collect
- No names, emails, phone numbers, or accounts
- No precise location
- No contacts, photos, or files
- No advertising identifiers - we don't show ads or sell data
Data stored on your device
Your puzzle progress, statistics, and settings (such as theme) are saved locally on your device only. We do not upload or back up this data. Uninstalling an app or clearing its data permanently erases it.
How analytics data is used
We use anonymous analytics only to improve the apps - for example, to see which puzzles are popular, spot problems, and decide what to build next. We never use it for advertising or profiling.
Where this information is treated as personal data under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR, we rely on our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the apps as the legal basis for processing it.
Children
The apps are suitable for all ages and do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The analytics described above are anonymous.
Where data is processed
Anonymous analytics are processed by PostHog on servers in the European Union. If you use the apps from outside the EU, your anonymous usage data is transferred to and stored on those EU servers.
App stores
The apps are distributed by Apple (App Store). If you turn on sharing of diagnostics or crash data at the operating-system level, Apple may collect it under their own privacy policy. We do not run our own crash-reporting service.
How long we keep it
We keep anonymous analytics only as long as they're useful for the purposes above, after which they are deleted or kept only in aggregate. Data stored on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the app.
Your choices
Because we don't hold information that identifies you, there is generally nothing personal to access, correct, or delete - but you can still contact us with any privacy question or request, including an objection to our use of anonymous analytics. To remove all locally stored data, uninstall the app. Email lukas@nilsenlab.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
